I am Artist

Months have gone by as I struggled to come up with an idea for our PAC journal.  This journal was started 10 years ago and contains some amazing artwork by our PAC members. Recently at gatherings we've talked about the progress we all have made and this prompted my piece.

Oftentimes we find that we have been away from the studio too long and sometimes feel unready or uncomfortable with just getting in there and creating.  What we really need is a warm up!  I liken it to those exercises we did before we went out and played a sport.  We get ourselves ready to perform or create.  I like to start with a pile of stuff--papers solid and print, little bits most people would have thrown away the last time they were used.  Then go to work making small abstract images using what is in front of me.  Here are three examples from Monday.

Tammy Vail's Hats

Tammy now sells her soft furry hats in Kentucky. Her daughter represents her and acts as her agent. She orders specialty yarns from France and other locals to create their furry look and offer a variety of fantastic colors.
