The 6 x 6 Wild Art Project

Each year, the Audubon Society of Portland sponsors a Wild Arts Festival. Artists create and donate 6x6 inch canvases with a bird theme to benefit local wildlife.

The 2011 Wild Arts Festival is November 19th & 20th at Montgomery Park. It's a wonderful opportunity to see nature-themed work by Northwest and nationally known artists and writers.

Several Portland Art Collective members are apart of the show this year. Look for their artwork at the festival. Each 6 x 6 sells for $40. Last year, 150 artists participated. It's a fun event.

Polka Dotted Scarves

Many of the artists in the Portland Art Collective are thinking ahead to our annual art show and sale Dec 3 & 4. We are busy creating all sorts of things large and small. For me making many different items keeps the creative juices flowing and I get to play with all my toys. This past week was the sewing machine and yummy fabrics and fibers.
I wrote a polka dotted story on how the scarf started for me, if you would like to read it skip over to my blog by clicking HERE.
These scarves are made from a variety of materials including antique sari ribbons and imported batiks, each one is unique in color, length and width.
Just three more months to create, a fun three months!

Heart Art

I have two pieces of heart art on display in Portland this month. Both are collaborations with my art friend, Destree. The first, Into the Abyss, is part of the Duets show at the 100th Monkey Studio.

The second piece, Dark Heart, is part of the 5th Annual Portland Love Show. Stop by either of these shows and take a peek.

Hearts at the Guardino Gallery

Three of our Portland Art Collective members are showing their work at the Guardino Gallery in Portland. "The Heart of the Matter" Show features fabric hearts by Robin Olsen and whimsical wood sculptures by Stephanie Brockway. It's a perfect place to celebrate Valentine's Day and purchase a heart for a loved one.
In the Main Gallery, Gaelyn Lakin shows her fabulous mixed media sculptures. Her dolls demonstrate her attention to detail with creative interpretation in her use of fiber and recycled materials.
Both shows run through February 23rd.
