I am counting down the days until our Open Doors Art Show and Sale! The top photo is of one of my "Heartwings" pendants that I created from a vintage clock face. The bottom two photos are two different views of one locket that I created out of vintage parts (watch fob, rosary connector, tintype photos,vintage locket and beads). Pendants for Bird lovers

Imagine tiny collages from your favorite birds. A little bit of this, a little bit of that and a micro collage is born. There are pendants made from those collages. And below that are canvases with a layer of gold leaf, then the collage on top. In real life they have a glow from below.

Pod Painting

I finished this painting, titled "Stepping Up," for the show this week:

This is the latest in my series of pod paintings. You can see others here, here, and here. These are all inspired by the atmosphere around Portland and the way things fade in and out of the mist. In this one, I was experimenting with creating a very low focal point and using monochromatic colors. I'm really happy with the cool, watery look and the amount of depth it has.

The Adventures of Pacia The Girl That Wanted To Be An Artist

PACia arrived in plenty of time to attend the Portland Art Collectives "Open Doors Show and Sale" she called her father to wire her some cash then ask her mother for permission to use the credit card. Her parents knowing the value of art said yes to everything.

After thanking the firemen for the lift north she was heard saying "Just think 20 artists, with original gifts and many under $20. I want in first! The line starts here." Pacia was so excited to meet every artist she had only met one in her travels, she was trying to think of something new to say besides "Good bye good bye I'm off to find a paint brush and become an artist." See you at the show!!!

Necklaces for Open Doors Show and Sale from Jennifer Campbell

The inspiration for these necklaces was the large resin beads that I purchased at a recent bead show in Portland. My favorite is the "Frida Kahlo" necklace (top pic) with the vintage key and vintage watch face as charms hanging from the necklace. I used copper for the chain and findings. For the "Encore" necklace I used sterling silver chain and vintage beads with a wing and beads as the "charms". See these and the others of this collection at the Open Doors Art Show and Sale on December 4th and 5th.

Have you read "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron? My "artist dates" include a hunt for vintage treasures to include in my art pieces. I love searching through the antique shops of the Sellwood area. A final stop at Philadelphia's for a cheesesteak sandwich and a microbrew gives me time to sit back and plan what I'll do with my purchases.

The clock in the first pic ("Paris") is made from a candy tin (4"x8"). The finial was a find from an estate sale. The clock below it is a wall clock with the tin measuring about 5"x7". These are only a couple of the clocks I'll have for sale at the Open Doors Art Show and Sale.

More Recycled Danglies By Lenall Siebenaler

I had these heavy felted "snakes" and I thought, "What could I do with them?" Danglies came readily to mind. But what to do with them. I've been percolating on that for a week now. A thought came to mind to combine the felted tube and some beads I bought in Pakistan--20+ years ago!!!!! Heavens! The beads were on two pieces of jewelry I bought at a bazaar there. The black and multi colored beads are ceramic and very different. The fabric beads were made into a strand as the artisan went using fabric and gold thread. They wrapped them around a cord between the ceramic beads forming a round bead. I added a couple other larger beads from my stash and seed beads also.

These are different.

Birds Are ready to fly & Ornaments ready to hang by Stephanie Brockway

I'm excited to be participating in this years PAC sale at the MAC, I'll still be a customer too! many one of a kind treasures to collect.

The birds are ready to fly...modeled after a a "urban folk art" bird I had made earlier.

The ornaments are hand cut poplar wood, carved, sanded, painted, waxed...a fun experiment.

Stayed Tuned, miniature carved books and barn angels , will hopefully make an appearance here before the big day!

I think they ended up better than they were at first sitting. It's always good to let pieces sit awhile and then come back and look at them with a fresh mind and a different mindset. You can never tell what might happen.

Finished Kimono Fabric Bead Necklaces

The kimono fabric bead necklaces are finished and ready for our show. I found the silver beads at the Gem Faire in June and thought they'd go well with the kimono beads. FYI the Gem Faire will be in Portland this weekend, November 27-29, at the Oregon Convention Center, Exhibit Hall E.
